South Woodham Ferrers District now has a brand new HQ in its grounds near to the Clements Green creek. The building was officially opened on 16th May 2015. The girls' bathroom was completed in the autumn 2015, and we are now able to hire the hall to Girlguiding units either for a day or for a Brownie pack holiday or Guide camp.
The original building was a temporary site hut used when the town was being built and gradually became more and more dilapidated until the decision was taken to raise funds for a new building. An open day was held on 28th September and the first unit meeting was held in the new building - Creekview Lodge - on Monday 29th September 2014.
We have raised over £240,000 through unit events, grants, donations, fetes, raffles, quizzes, and sponsored events to name but a few. We also successfully raised £3000 through a Crowdfunder project for our new bathroom. A list of some of the fund-raising projects can be found here.
We have so many people to thank but in particular we would like to thank our parents and girls who have responded consistenly to all our fundraising requests. We would also like to thank the community of South Woodham Ferrers who have always been so supportive.
Our new building is now finished but unfortunately we still need funds to complete the outside area. If you remember the great times you had as a Brownie or Guide, or would like to support the work Girlguiding does with young women in the community, and would like to help us, please click on the link on the left and make a donation through Virgin Money.
NEW TARGET: £25,000
Thank you for your support.
